Earth Day - Observations - Ottawa, Canada

As we religiously observed Earth Hour at the Bhadha residence, I thought I'd go for a walk around the neighborhood and see how other people were doing. We turned off the computers, TV, all the lights and had dinner by the candle light.

It was a fairly cold night, so I didn't get a chance to go very far, but from the observations that I did make, I wasn't surprised at the results.

PS3 - NHL 08 - Dynasty Save Problems, Load Problems, Problems with Simulating Games, Horrible AI = Bad game

So, now that I have my PS3 connected to my gorgeous monitor, I though I'd try out a game...NHL 08 - What else. In a hockey town such as Ottawa, lot of people at work have been talking about it.

NHL 08So, Patrick (our new contributor) and I played it last weekend. The game was a disappointment for the most part. Both of us were really excited that we'd start a Dynasty Mode with the Ottawa Senators, and finish it by wining the Stanley Cup... and that's where the dream ended.

We fired up the game. The first pop-up said that Auto-Save mode was enabled by default, and that it would automatically save our progress. Alright, awesome. So, we created a Dynasty Mode 'Profile', played the first few games, then decided to take a break. Since Auto-save was on, we'd be able to pick up where we had left off. Nope! When we loaded up the profile again, nothing was saved, and we were back again, at the beginning of the season with a record of 0-0-0. What??

So, we though we'd give that another try. We decided to simulate the games up to about December. BIG MISTAKE.

Rent a Camera Lens - Try it out, then buy it if you like it - Great Concept

Christmas season - stuff goes on sales and seeing how the prices are dropping for certain things, I want to get my hands on a DSLR. I know I have a ton of options, but I'm mainly set on buying either the Canon Rebel XTI, or Nikon D40, D40x, or maybe the D80. I've got lots of research ahead of me to decide which one works best for me. The problem here is that $1200 or more is a pretty big commitment, and I'd like to test drive a few cameras before I settle for one.

A Real Canadian Winter is on it's way!!

Compared to last year, when most of Canada had a Brown Christmas, Environment Canada is forecasting a White Christmas across most of Canada.

Ottawa Congress heard my cries - Initiating Wireless Provider Competition in Canada

Again, I don't think the Ottawa Congress (Parliament, The Big Guns, whatever you call them...) didn’t heard me specifically, but heard the cries of tons of people like me.

We want more competitive rates in Canada, not just for wireless carriers but for all consumer products. Canada is a lot expensive compared to the United States when it comes to almost everything food, clothes, electronics, cars...accept maybe lumber.
But for now, we will have to settle for and see how the competition ensues in the wireless sector.

Canadian Communication/Content Providers - The Lack Off

Living in Canada, or more importantly the capital of Canada (No, not Toronto; Ottawa!!) I am ashamed at the quality of content providers we have. Having only experienced services on in Ontario and Quebec, I cannot speak for the whole country, but I've heard the that the same problem persists across the whole nation.
