HD-DVD is dead - Sony's PS3 finally has a chance.

Since Warner Brothers is going to exclusively release their movies on Blu-Ray beginning May 2008, it looks like HD-DVD is going to die out fairly soon.

This means that my $700 CND investment for the PS3 when it just came out won't be going to complete waste. It might be a horrible gaming system/platform, but it's a pretty decent Blu-Ray player and the cheapest one you can buy.

I’m happy about that, just like most other consumers are. We can finally stop holding off on buying High Definition DVD movies because we’re afraid of the future. I just wish this news had come a week earlier, during the Boxing Week sales. I could have picked up a few Blu-Ray titles without fear. That’s alright. I’m sure the Blu-Ray players will be going down in price soon, and so will the media.

They will probably start

They will probably start going up in prize since Blu-Ray has no competition. They can sell for whatever they want.
