Colour Profiles - The Reason for Kingston Kitchen - Take Two
So, I had a few people ask me why I had released 2 versions of Kingston Kitchen (Take One and Take Two).
If you look at the pictures side by side, you can clearly see the colour difference. Take One is dull and muted, where as Take Two is vibrant and exactly how I wanted to capture it.
For a few days, I wasn't quite sure what was going on, and why the picture was lifeless. After a bit of digging, I found the reason. When exporting for the web, always using sRGB (standard Red Green Blue) as the Colour Profile/Space and in most cases, when exporting for print, sRGB is the way to go since most printers haven't started supporting proPhoto just yet.
I hadn't realized this until I sent a few photos to the printer and the reds and blues came out quite dull. Disappointing, but another lesson learned.
