More New Gear - SB600 and 2 Umbrella Stands
No more Alien Bees setup - at least for now. They were too expensive for what I wanted to do and too much equipment to lug around. Also, I wanted to be as mobile as possible so that I don't get bored of carrying all the equipment around and give up on anything. That's my biggest fear having invested almost $3000+ into my photo equipment. But I think Strobist and TFTTF will keep me busy and interested for a while - and they were the reason that I turned away from the Alien Bees setup.
After reading tons of articles and looking at thousands of pictures on Flickr of what could be accomplished with small strobes and umbrellas, I decided to hold of on studio equipment.
My newest purchases include a SB-600, two light stands, two clamps and two umbrellas (convertable). I can't wait to get out there and shoot, but I'll have to wait till the weather warms up a bit, it's -13oC with a wind-chill of -22oC.
For now, I have an indoor photo shoot lined up for tomorrow. The apartment building where a friend lives has some really neat decor and cool looking elevators, and I think we could have some fun with those. We're going to try and get the service key for the elevator so that we can shoot without interruptions - shhh!!
